What are Posh AI mixed minutes?

Posh gives you hybrid answering service that lets you mix and match AI call answering and live human call answering any way you want. You decide which calls are handled by AI, and which are handled by a live receptionist.

An AI receptionist is a large language model-based program that uses a synthesized voice to provide your callers with a natural-sounding experience. A live receptionist is a human being who answers calls on your behalf. With Posh, you have access to both these services at any scale and in any combination you want. Your AI receptionist announces itself in its greeting to callers with a phrase such as “This is Erin, your AI receptionist, on a recorded line.” Beyond that, your AI receptionist uses advanced speech synthesis to sound ultra-realistic and expressive. If callers want to talk to a human being, we make it easy for them to do so in seconds.

How, when, and why calls transfer from AI to human receptionists is entirely up to you. Simply tell us which calls you’d like your AI receptionist to answer and if there are certain questions, phrases, or requests that should prompt the AI to switch the call to a human representative. If you’re not sure how you’d like this to function, we can apply our default settings, which include common-sense phrases like “talk to human” as triggers.

All our pricing plans are based on receptionist minutes. Pick a monthly package and you only pay for the time Posh spends handling a call or performing immediate follow-up tasks such as scheduling an appointment, sending a reminder to a client or customer, or delivering a message to you. AI and receptionist minutes within your plan limit are not billed separately—they count toward the same total. You can use as many AI and live receptionist minutes within your plan’s monthly limit. Instead of paying for multiple services, our packages give you an easy, all-encompassing solution. Time used beyond that limit is charged on a per-minute basis. The only exception to this is our On-Demand plan, in which you essentially pay a monthly rate to use a pay-as-you-go setup, where “overage” fees become usage fees. AI minute and live receptionist minute overages are tracked and calculated separately. For instance, let’s say you maxed out your usage for the month but Posh answers a call for you, and that call lasts one minute:
  • If your AI receptionist answers and handles the entire call, you would be charged the AI overage fee.
  • If a human receptionist handles the call without AI assistance, you would be charged the live overage fee.
  • If the AI answers first and transfers the call to a human receptionist, you would be charged both the AI overage fee and the live overage fee.
All billing details can be reviewed through the Posh portal so there are no surprises.

Once you sign up for Posh, we’ll schedule a brief onboarding conversation where we’ll create your account, call handling instructions, routing, and other details. You can change your availability status (or schedule it in advance) any time with the Posh app, where you can also view and respond to messages, create and organize contacts, request assistance and more.
